Indigo dye, by its nature is not very colour-fast. This is what helps to create the fades on your jeans after wear! We advise avoiding contact with lighter coloured clothes and upholstery when wearing raw denim as the colour can transfer. Should the colour transfer onto your lighter-coloured clothing it should wash out with your usual detergent.

"Took the plunge and went for a light-weigth scarf, the fabric and finish surpassed my expecations and it's become and everyday essential for me."

INTRODUCING

Our popular hand printed cotton scarves have become a trademark look for many &SONS pioneers.

They are the ideal, all year round accessory - a statement of individual style that has put these scarves among our best selling items.

We carefully select the finest cotton to give these Japanese inspired scarves the softest feel and then dye the cotton using indigo to create a rich, natural colouring which ages and gently fades over time.

Each scarf has its own story to tell…

These scarves have been handprinted in small batches making every one unique with its own story to tell. A traditional hand block and dye techniques are used to make this wonderful natural cloth.

ORIGINS

Popularised by aviators in both World Wars to keep their necks warm and prevent chaffing, scarves have been a staple in men’s wardrobes for over 2000 years. The military has used them as rank insignia and unit designators for many years, from the Terracotta Warriors of China to modern-day desert military units.

Style Tip: The Drape The simplest of all and sometimes, all you need. Simply drape the scarf around the back of the neck and let it fall either side to add another layer and pop of colour.  Overhand Knot (Also known as Ascot) Lay the scarf over your shoulders. Take both ends of the scarf, and tie them “over-and-under,” as if you were starting to do up a giant pair of shoelaces. Adjust the front to be a bit smooth and tighten closer to the neck as desired. Looks great tucked underneath a chore jacket. The “Parisian” Fold the scarf in half at the middle so that the ends touch and hold the doubled-over bend in one hand while passing the loose ends around the back of your neck with the other. Tuck the ends through the bend and pull snug. This is the most common look in the &SONS style catalogue.  Made in UK
