Seasonal Styles

The festive season is full of all kinds of social gatherings. Dinners, drinks, afternoons and evenings, the party season is officially here and calendars are filling up quickly. Each festive soiree brings a new challenge when it comes to your wardrobe. And when it comes to your style, your chosen drink of the night should match your outfit to reflect your personality and energy. Imagine how strange it would be if an old fur trapper wandered into a Western Saloon and ordered a prosecco!

We’ve put together 3 of the best Pioneer styles and matched them to drinks so you can arrive in confidence and know what you’re about to order...

The Old Fashioned

The Old Fashioned dates back to the 1800s and is often associated with a more mature drinker. If this is your drink of choice, you’re said to have a traditional life but with an exciting risky edge to your personality. Our heritage collection offers dapper attire fit for the gentry.

We recommend pairing an Elder T-shirt with our wool waistcoat for a traditional style and adding our Crafter Chore Jacket over the top. Go for our Indigo Brandon’s and Virgil dessert boots for a comfortable but sophisticated look. Finish with a Jackson Grey cap and you’ll look just the part ordering an Old Fashioned.

Making an Old Fashioned

Ingredients:

2 tsp sugar syrup or 1 tsp granulated sugar

1-2 dashes of Angostura bitters

Splash of water

60ml Scotch whisky or bourbon

Soda water (optional)

Orange slice

Maraschino cherry (optional)

Method:

Put the sugar, bitters and water in a small tumbler. Mix until the sugar dissolves if using granulated. Fill your glass with ice and stir in the whisky. Add a splash of soda water if you like and mix. Garnish with the orange and cherry.

The Whisky Sour

A Whisky Sour is a classic cocktail without all the frills – it's simple and rugged. You’re adaptable in social situations and are a complex but fun personality.

As pairings go, it doesn’t get much finer than this. Our YUKON shirt is steeped in history, much like a vintage single malt. Make a statement with our rugged plaid and pair it with our New Frontier Denims. Everything else is up to you…

Making a Whiskey Sour

Ingredients

50ml bourbon

35ml lemon juice

12½ml 2:1 sugar syrup

2 dashes Angostura bitters

½ fresh egg white

ice

50p-sized piece of lemon zest

Garnish with:

slice of orange and a cherry on a stick

Method

Shake all of the ingredients (except for the lemon zest) hard with ice and strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Squeeze the lemon zest, shiny side down over the drink so the scented oils spray across the surface. Discard the zest, add the garnish and serve.

The Madras

Bright and refreshing, the Madras is a sharper version of its close relative, the Cosmopolitan. If this is your drink of choice, you’re a trendsetter without fear of judgment and a natural leader.

It’s clean and crisp and gives off a preppy aura, just like our range of varsity pieces. For a paired back, understated cool style choose a white T-shirt, Tan chinos and finish with our Varsity cardigan. Baseline high tops and a wool snapback cap will complete the look!
